Dynamic accumulator extraordinaire. Comfrey grows like a small, leafy shrub (or a large, bushy flower). It is non-woody and dies back completely in winter. Produces lots of leaves that can be chopped several times per season. Seeds of this variety (likely Bocking 14) are sterile-will not self sow, so it is not invasive. However, plant comfrey where you want it forever and keep in mind that digging/tilling nearby will cut the roots, resulting in more plants. Purple flowers beloved by bees. Appreciates afternoon shade.
