Alderleaf Mountain Mahogany
Price range: $7.00 through $12.00
Cercocarpus montanus
Very drought and heat tolerant. Grows naturally on dry, rocky slopes. Blooms are inconspicuous, but the beautiful seed heads are the real display. They appear in late summer or early fall and are long, feathery, and curly. Host plant for the Mountain Mahogany Hairstreak butterfly and 18 other species. Slow growing and long lived. One of our absolute favorites.
