Chamerion angustifolium

Longstanding, tall, showy, purple flower spikes make this a beautiful addition to the garden. Can spread via rhizomes but is not competitive. Likes moderately moist soils, sandy or clayey. Keystone pioneer plant that colonizes recently burned forests providing ample food for pollinating insects and larva.
