Penstemon grandiflorus

Considered one of the showiest penstemons due to its tubular flowers that are up to 2” long, large-flowered beardtongue is endangered in some states. Its stunning flowers are a purple/pink hue and the stems are up to 2 ft tall. It attracts bumblebees, native bees, and numerous bird species including hummingbirds. Host plant for Edith’s Checkerspot and Chalcedon Checkerspot butterflies. Blooms in early summer and prefers dry/poor soils.
