Elymus canadensis
Canada wild rye is a gorgeous, cool-season bunchgrass that makes showy, wheat-like seed heads in spring. These ripen to light beige color in mid-summer, although the grass stays green all summer. Can handle all soil types and responds well to regular watering. Moderately drought-tolerant once established. Provides nesting sites and cover for birds. Great as a striking accent placed in the back of a garden bed.
