Smooth Blue Aster

Symphyotrichum laeve

Asters are important late-season bloomers and pollinator favorites, and smooth blue aster is no exception. Plus, birds love the seeds. Can handle moist or dry soils. The tough stem often takes on a shade of blue and will allow smooth blue aster to stand tall. A non-aggressive rhizomatous root system allows the plant to spread slowly. Long-lived.
