Important late-season bloomer and pollinator favorite. Birds love the seeds. Can handle moist or dry soils. The tough stem often takes on a shade of blue and will allow Smooth Blue Aster to stand tall. A non-aggressive rhizomatous root system allows the plant to spread slowly. Long-lived. Hardy to zone 3.
