Mexican hat is an easy to grow, cheerful wildflower that does well in poor soils and is tolerant of drought and deer once established. Grows great in heavy clay, as long as it is allowed to dry out a bit between waterings. Reddish brown blooms are loved by native bees and other pollinators. Looks great alongside yellow prairie coneflower, and these two can cross. Resistant to nibbling deer, rabbits, and chipmunks. One of our all time favorites.
