Indian Grass

Sorghastrum nutans

Indian grass, also known as golden feather grass, is an important species of the tall grass prairies that can reach heights of up to 7 feet tall in the right conditions. Indian grass goes to seed earlier than most prairie grasses resulting in beautiful soft golden seedheads that wave on tall, very upright green stems. A wonderful garden accent that grows and fills out quickly. Excellent bird habitat plant and the seeds also provide a good food source for birds.
